چکیده

We present some problems related to right(or bi-)invariant metrics d on the symmetric group of permutations S,. Characterizations and constructions of bi-invariant extremal (in the corresponding convex cone) metrics are given, esp. for n 6 5 . We also consider special subspaces of the metric space (S,,, d ) : unit balls, sets with prescribed distances (L-cliques), "hamiltonian" sets. Here we give (for proofs, see [ 3 ] ) some results and problems arising by analogy with extremal set systems. Related problems of coding type (with Hamming metric) are considered in [l , 41.

HESITANT FUZZY INFORMATION MEASURES DERIVED FROM T-NORMS AND S-NORMS

In this contribution, we first introduce the concept of metrical T-norm-based similarity measure for hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs) {by using the concept of T-norm-based distance measure}. Then, the relationship of the proposed {metrical T-norm-based} similarity {measures} with the {other kind of information measure, called the metrical T-norm-based} entropy measure {is} discussed. The main feature ...

On Multi-threaded Metrical Task Systems

Traditionally, on-line problems have been studied under the assumption that there is a unique sequence of requests that must be served. This approach is common to most general models of on-line computation, such as Metrical Task Systems. However, there exist on-line problems in which the requests are organized in more than one independent thread. In this more general framework, at every moment ...

The influence of lookahead in competitive on-line algorithms

In the competitive analysis of on-line problems, an on-line algorithm is presented with a sequence of requests to be served. The on-line algorithm must satisfy each request without the knowledge of any future requests. We consider the question of lookahead in on-line problems: What improvement can be achieved in terms of competitiveness, if the on-line algorithm sees not only the present reques...

Unfair Problems and Randomized Algorithms for Metrical Task Systems

Borodin, Linial, and Saks introduce a general model for online systems in [Borodin et al. 1992] called metrical task systems. In this paper, the unfair two state problem, a natural generalization of the two state metrical task system problem, is studied. A randomized algorithm for this problem is presented, and it is shown that this algorithm is optimal. Using the analysis of unfair two state p...

On Explorers, Chasers and Cameramen

In this tutorial, we give an overview of several on-line optimization problems which involve some sort of exploration or chasing. We show how all the considered problems are part of the broad family of metrical service systems and discuss the known competitive analysis results and the mutual relationships between the problems.
